Regional Council:

Ontario has developed an Ontario Young Peoples Council which consists of 10 members. The 10 members are comprised of 5 regions. A male and female representative from each of the five regions.

Each region has developed their own selection process when it comes to a youth council. Please visit the websites for more information.

The five regions are Poltical Territorial Organizations except the indendants.

  • Grand Council Treaty #3 - consists of 28 First Nation communities in the northwestern area of ontario leading up to the manitoba boarder.
  • There are two youth Reps for this region - Nick Mainville and Carolyn Kokokopenace
  • Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) -consists 49 First Nation communities across the territory of James Bay Treaty 9 and Treaty 5 - an area spanning two-thirds of Ontario.
  • NAN has youth council which you can find on the website  
  • Union Of Ontario Indians - Anishinabek Nation  (UOI)- consists of 42 First Nation Communities
  • UOI has a youth advisory board developed which is comprised of 8 people elected by the youth.
  • Association of Iroquois and Allied Indians (AIAI) - consists of 8 First Nation communities
  • Independant First Nations - consists of 11 First Nation communities
